Responsibilities

Supervise Paste Plant crews.

Ensures compliance with the Mines Act.

Ensures workplace safety and environmental standards are established and met, and that standards and procedures are communicated to site personnel.

Ensure daily Paste plan for the shift is achieved and compliance to mine to plan.

Assists with filling personnel requirements for Paste Plant and other departments.

Assists with sourcing and filling equipment needs.

Prioritizes tasks and delegates workload to Paste plant crews and monitors’ progress.

Provides leadership and encourages performance and ensure the crew is taking the ownership. 

Communicates routinely and effectively with the Paste Plant Foreman and other supervisory personnel as required.

Performs other related duties that may be required.

Full compliance with underground safety management plan.

Assist with accident/incident investigation and training of new employees.

Ensure all employees reporting to this position attend safety related training courses and engage in any of the company’s safety initiatives.

Ensure the smooth running of the production processesEnsure the timesheet are filled in at end of each shiftEnsure to follow the filling parameters and react as soon as possible when there is a deviationEnsure to hold a pre-start toolbox talk and recordEnsure to inspect and record all main equipment of the plantInspect the plant on hourly basis and re-enforce rules and SOP on operatorsMonitor and report on process performance at end of shift in the supervisor's bookTake full responsibility of the shift and be the first respondent of production and quality targetsEnsure all dirty water flow from clarifier to process plants is followed on hourly basis and monitoredTo be able to do backup for shift foreman and control room operatorConduct control room tools and equipment inspection and make note in the shift book logTimely arrival prior to shift commencement to ensure a thorough shift change of duties on post (Minimum 30 minutes)

Qualification requirements

Relevant Degree/Advanced Diploma/ Certificate in Mining Engineering 

Tertiary or ordinary secondary education.

Having a valid driving license

Experience and competencies needed.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Paste Plant operations as Supervisor.

Good organizational and communication skills.

Knowledge and understanding of reading drawings and ability to follow specifications.

Previous supervisory experience in underground mine and knowledge of sublevel stopping underground Mining method.

The strong ability to form effective working relationships that allow achievement of job requirements.

Ability to work in a team, communicate effectively and drive results.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with crew, leadership, and clients.

Possess knowledge of Industry standard safe working practices.
