Purpose of Position:
The Parts Personnel is responsible for providing prompt customer service to our mechanics and ordering stock and non-inventory parts from vendors as requested. This role also monitors and corrects any discrepancies with the parts room inventory and organizes incoming stock from vendors.
Key Accountabilities:
Review parts requests and provide vehicle repair parts to MechanicsLocate required parts through in-house inventory or order through appropriate vendorsDocument parts ordered and delivered in the work order systemReceive incoming parts and supplies from vendor and process vendor invoicesWork with outgoing parts and supplies that require return to the vendor and complete the appropriate paperworkMaintain and organize the tool roomLabel, stock and organize parts and supplies in the Parts roomPackage and ship parts/supplies to various Challenger locationsMaintain, clean and ensure that the Parts room is kept organized (maintain 5S program)Perform routine inventory cycle counting as requiredMonitor and maintain inventory integrityTest and clean vehicle satellite components and send defective or damaged equipment to Shaw for repairPerforming other maintenance duties as requiredQualifications:
Secondary School Diploma required1-2 years of Parts counter experience required (Truck or Automotive)Parts Person Red Seal certification or working towards is an assetTruck and/or trailer parts knowledge is considered an assetForklift certificate training is an asset (In house training available)Valid driver’s license requiredRequired Skills: Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction High attention to detail with an ability to count, check and confirm quantitiesIntermediate Microsoft Office, computer and telephone skillsDetail oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in a busy environmentGood verbal and written communication skills, relationship building and interpersonal skillsAbility to work with minimal supervisionProactive attitude and takes initiative to prevent issuesWell-organized, enthusiastic, professional and a positive team memberHigh level of personal energy and willingness to take the initiative in resolving issuesWillingness to learn new skillsSome heavy lifting may be requiredSupervision:
This position reports to the Parts Team Leader. The immediate supervisor and/or department leader periodically checks assignments for progress. This position has no authority over other members of the team and has no direct reports.
Decision Making and Judgment
General instruction is given for work but there is some choice to depart from, or modify existing procedures or standards if the situation requires. There is some scope to decide or set priorities based on a given situation. Some problem may have to be referred to a supervisor/manager to obtain clarification
