Sacramento United Soccer Club (Sac United) seeks a part-time soccer coach. The soccer coach will report directly to the Elite Programs Director to provide a unified implementation of the Club’s vision and soccer methodology. He/She will be accountable for all aspects of the Club’s on-field soccer activities and the
effective delivery of a high-quality soccer experience to Club members. This includes collaborating with the Board of Directors, Program Directors, and his/her staff to continue to improve in the execution and management of the Club’s mission, strategy, annual and long-term goals.

Maximize the quality and effectiveness of Sac United’s Elite Programs (MLS NEXT or Girls Academy), building on the existing Club philosophy and methodology. Responsibilities include:

Coach, lead, and manage an assigned elite team (MLS NEXT or GA).

Plan, organize, and execute high-level training sessions in line with Sac United’s curriculum and methodology.

Observe and participate in training sessions across age levels when appropriate.

Manage game-day preparation, player rotation, and tactical adjustments.

Foster the playing and development philosophy club-wide, ensuring understanding and buy-in from players and families.

Support the Program Directors in guiding and developing Club methodology and curriculum in line with Sac United’s current vision.

Maintain professional communication with players and families regarding development, expectations, and program standards

Player Development & Recruitment

Implement player evaluation processes and provide feedback to players and families at designated intervals.

Assist in the implementation of the college/professional recruitment program for U14–U19 players to maximize exposure and opportunities.

Collaborate with Program Directors to identify and recruit top-level players into Sac United’s elite programs.

Support the tryout process and team formation, ensuring proper evaluation and player placement.

Personnel & Collaboration

Work in conjunction with Program Directors and fellow elite coaches to ensure consistency and alignment across MLS NEXT and GA teams.

Attend regular coach education meetings and professional development opportunities provided by the Club.

Mentor and collaborate with assistant coaches or team staff as needed.

Uphold and model the Club’s standards for professionalism, development, and player care.

Tournaments, Games & Travel

Lead the team through league games, showcases, and tournaments as assigned.

Work with Program Directors to plan and coordinate event schedules.

Travel as required with the team, representing Sac United with professionalism and integrity.

Communication & Community

Maintain positive and professional relationships with players, families, and club staff.

Communicate consistently with families regarding schedules, expectations, and team matters.

Promote Sac United’s Elite Programs within the community and uphold the Club’s reputation.

Qualifications

Licensing: Minimum USSF C License (B or higher preferred).

Demonstrated success coaching at the elite youth, collegiate, or professional level.

Experience working with top-level players in a competitive environment.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to manage, motivate, and develop elite players in alignment with Sac United’s philosophy.

Commitment to player development with a holistic approach (technical, tactical, physical, mental).

Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and travel.
