Seeking a middle school teacher for a Christian elementary school in San Luis Obispo County, CA serving approximately 140 students. Positions to be filled is part-time middle school. Characteristics: patient, adaptable, and passionate about instilling a love of learning in children. Responsibilities: Educate students utilizing childhood development concepts, theories, and practices. The teacher should be able to identify students’ academic strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. These insights should help plan a general and targeted curriculum to prepare students for success. Teacher should be willing to regularly communicate with parents and work with staff in a collaborative manner. Teacher should model Christian character and choices for students and families.
Job Description / Essential Elements: Print Work with school and church leadership, and other staff to implement the mission of the school and create a Christ-centered community of learners; Prepare and grade coursework and assignments, manage classrooms and implement school procedures; Work with school leaders and administrators to initiate policies, stay current with schoolwide learning goals and standards, follow and implement school scope and sequence in all subjects, and other curriculum-development materials, including textbooks, in accordance with school and national standards; Meet one-on-one with students to improve performance and address behavioral issues that may arise; Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs, including facilitating conferences; Model and reinforce positive social behaviors such as hanging up coats, talking respectfully with others, sharing, and cleaning up after themselves. Requirements / QualificationsCredential Requirements Teaching credential preferred, minimum bachelor's degree in teacher education or related field of study.
