4 Year Degree Reporting to the Director of Athletics, a part time Head Coach directs and manages a varsity intercollegiate sport program at the college and, in general terms, is responsible for practice and game preparation, as well as recruiting, retention and program administration within that program. In addition, they are responsible for the proper utilization of facilities and equipment, scheduling for practices, athletic contests and designated special functions. Finally, each head coach will be responsible for assuring all NCAA, ECAC, Centennial, Department and college rules and regulations are adhered to within the program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Planning, organizing and conducting all practices and contests. • Hiring, supervising and evaluating all assistant coaches. • Recruiting and enrolling a diverse group of qualified student athletes for successful participation at the varsity athletic level • Advising and directing team members, captains, Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) team representatives and team managers. • Preparing a schedule in conjunction with the Athletic Director that complies with departmental policies goals, and objectives. • Submitting all sport budget and equipment requests for approval • Administering the sport budget in a fiscally responsible manner. • Coordinating team travel, housing and meals with department secretary. Submitting a travel itinerary before every away event. • Demonstrating leadership, sportsmanship, and conduct becoming of the coaching profession adhering to all college and professional sport association guidelines • Adhering to all NCAA, Centennial Conference, ECAC and sport rules and regulations. • Monitoring and supporting the academic progression of team members, developing and enforcing team policies and representing program to external constituencies. • Attending all required NCAA, Centennial Conference, ECAC and departmental meetings. • Assisting the Athletic Director in NCAA compliance – including player eligibility, rules compliance and serving as an NCAA resource person.

This is a part-time, 12-month position paying $25 an hour. This position has a budgeted rate of $25 per hour. The position is classified as an AO.

Previous college-level experience working with sports programs/teams is preferable. Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred Successful collegiate coaching experience Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong, detail-oriented, organizational skills Computer literacy and adaptability in all Microsoft, Recruiting and NCAA software A strong knowledge and experience working with athletes, teams and programs required A self-motivated worker Ability and interest in sports and a willingness to effectively work with college students. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, coaching staff, student athletes, vendors, alumni and general public Ability to manage and supervise staff including training, scheduling, and evaluating Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible work week schedule including evenings and weekends along with overtime in busy periods during the academic year. Knowledge of basic budgeting and record keeping procedures Ability to read and comprehend documents such as instructions, manuals, rule books, safety rules, policy standards, student timecards and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence for varied campus groups. Ability to speak effectively, present information one-to-one and in small group situations. Valid driver’s license with two or less points.
