Part-Time Functional Skills Compliance Officer (3 Days a Week))

TQ Education & Training (part of the Pearson Group) is a provider of outsourced training services to the UK Ministry of Defence, other public sector organisations, and private companies both in the UK and overseas. You will support Functional Skills delivery as part of the Army Apprenticeship contracts with the MoD and our commercial Functional Skills provision. About the role

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Functional Skills Compliance Officer to join our team. In this role, you will support the Senior Functional Skills Manager in ensuring that our Functional Skills provision meets all relevant standards. Your work will be vital in maintaining the quality and integrity of our educational services. This is a part-time role over 3 days a week, ideally including a Friday.

Your key responsibilities 

Support the Senior Functional Skills Manager with implementing and managing all agreed Quality Assurance and Risk Management Systems operated by Pearson TQ and the customer, contributing to the establishment and development of a quality provision/service.  Internal Quality Assurance of Speaking and Listening assessments as per the Awarding Body requirements. Coordinate and assist with conducting a programme of teaching, learning and assessment observations to monitor and promote effective teaching, assessment, and learning, and update the observation schedule with the required information. Provide support and guidance to administrative and delivery staff and IQAs in relation to quality requirements and processes. This includes supporting new members of staff with Speaking and Listening and exam invigilation requirements. Coordinate and support internal and external audits in line with company policy, including the completion of SOP 18,  OneFile and contract-specific audits. Coordinate and support internal and external inspections, including Speaking and Listening Standards Verification visits. Undertake learner interviews and collate and share feedback to management. Support the development and management of more flexible and supported methods of learning to place learners at the centre of the learning process, including the use of e-learning, e-portfolios, and e-platforms. Ensure that all learner and employer resources and learning materials are kept up to date and in line with the customer, Awarding Body, and organisation requirements. Support in the production and updates, where necessary, of the following quality-related reports: Moderation of Observation Teaching, Learning & Assessment (OTLA) Employer and Learner Feedback reports (Lime Survey) Monthly sampling of online learner evidence Support the Senior Functional Skills Manager in managing and implementing a programme of standardisation and CPD for Functional Skills, including the delivery of exam invigilation training and Speaking and Listening standardisation training (OSCA). Promote and provide activities and opportunities for staff in relation to developing effective teaching, assessment, and learning skills. Attend and contribute to team meetings. Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required.

About you 

Hold a D3/33 or A1 Assessor qualification. Hold a D34 or V1 IQA qualification. Functional Skills, Key Skills, or Skills for Life qualifications in maths, English, and ICT at Level 2. Proficient in standard computer software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet, and e-mail. Good analytical skills and the ability to make sound judgements and recommendations. Proven working knowledge, experience, and understanding of Apprenticeship Standards and Functional Skills provision. Proven experience in the internal quality assurance of Speaking and Listening. Good understanding of the assessment and IQA processes. Demonstrated inspection and audit skills and experience. Good knowledge of ESFA funding compliance. Ability to promote a culture of embedded continuous improvement. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both orally and in writing, including sensitive/difficult information. Ability to manage own workload, and manage tight deadlines and conflicting priorities to deliver to challenging deadlines with minimal supervision. Ability to analyse and interpret complex and conflicting information to make sound judgements and recommendations.
