A highly reputable client located in Bay Point, CA is currently hiring for a Drone Test Operator. This is a small, but growing and innovative tech team revolutionizing the delivery with drones. This position will be part of a dedicated and agile flight test team supporting in-house drone development.

As a Drone Test Operator, you'll conduct daily test flights, capture detailed flight data, and ensure smooth and safe drone operations across two active sites (Bay Point and Oakland, CA). This is not a passive piloting job. You'll be embedded in field operations, adapting to dynamic test conditions, and collaborating closely with the engineering teams to push the envelope of aerial autonomy and hardware validation.

You'll be expected to execute test profiles, communicate findings, and adjust flight parameters on the fly, all while helping develop safer, smarter, and more robust drone systems. This is a hands-on, full-time role (40 hours a week) with weekday field testing and flexibility to pivot locations or schedules as needed.

Position – Drone Test Pilot

Location – 100% Onsite at Bay Point, CA (with occasional travel to Oakland, CA)

Pay – $30/hr. (There is no room for negotiation of pay)

Schedule – Standard Monday - Friday Morning Shift (40 Hours a Week)

12-Month Contract (With possibility to convert to permanent employee earlier)

[Responsibilities]

Execute and adapt to multiple test flights daily, adjusting profiles and parameters as required.Communicate closely with flight test lead and engineering team during and after flights.Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks, ensuring safety and readiness.Manage airspace and coordinate with relevant stakeholders during operations.Support logbook maintenance, site setup, and drone transport.Identify off-nominal behaviors and provide structured feedback to support diagnostics.Work independently with minimal oversight across the Bay Point and Oakland test sites.

Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate with 100+ hours of UAS flight time.Experience in both quad and hexacopter platforms.Hands-on skill flying in Stabilized Mode and performing manual maneuvers.Good understanding of performing Mission Planning (utilizing checklist) and conducting pre- and post-flight inspection.Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather and working on your feet.[Highly Preferred] Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, Auterion, and/or Herelink-based systems.[Highly Preferred] Familiarity with ground control software such as QGroundControl or Mission Planner.[Highly Preferred] Experience contributing to drone development and/or robotic testing programs.[Preferred] Experience with Google Docs, Sheets, Jira, Confluence, and/or Slack.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Reliable team player (this team will be very collaborative with other pilots).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
