Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominately responsible, for failure to comply. This is moderately independent work providing Visitor Services, Resource Management, Maintenance, Administration and Protection of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park. VISITOR SERVICES: Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment, and education; meet visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions in an accurate and professional manner. Attempted to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations. Provides natural and cultural history interpretive programs and services via presentation, walks and other programs and unit specific services as directed. RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Recognizes biological communities and the natural processes required for their maintenance. Observes, maintains, and protects the natural, historic, and archaeological resources of the park. Implements vegetation and wildlife management plans, maintains optimum species control via natural and chemical means. Collects and records resource management data. MAINTENANCE: Maintains historic park structures, facilities, equipment and grounds through routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance practices. Constructs, cleans, maintains, and repairs park grounds, facilities and equipment utilizing appropriate tools and equipment. Conduct routine inspections to ensure proper maintenance standards are met. Maintains cleanliness of grounds and facilities. Provides for the care and feeding of livestock. ADMINISTRATION: Prepares forms and reports on a wide range of subjects including visitation, vehicle usage, purchase requests and accidents. Answers telephone, operate computer and various office equipment. Conducts purchasing and fiscal activities in compliance with established procedures. Collects fees and reconciles receipts. Answers correspondence and maintains park files. Oversee OPS and volunteer work assignments. PROTECTION: Performs routine patrols and security checks; ensures adherence to the Park Protection Plan. Open and/or secures park facilities as appropriate. Interprets and enforces park rules pertaining to all natural and cultural resources and facilities and use thereof for the safety and enjoyment of the visitor. Responsible for security of cash funds. Performs other related duties as required. County Road 325 Cross Creek, FL 32640 Visitors to this old Florida homestead can walk back in time to 1930s farm life when Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings lived and worked in the tiny community of Cross Creek. Her cracker-style home and farm, where she wrote her Pulitzer prize-winning novel "The Yearling" and other wonderful works of fiction, has been restored and is preserved as it was when she lived here. Her book about her life here, "Cross Creek," will take you directly back to life on this land and in this community. Rawlings was honored as a Great Floridian by then Governor Charlie Crist in March 2009. The U.S. Postal Service released a commemorative stamp in 2008 honoring Rawlings and the literary arts.
