Mardan is a not for profit school for students in grades K through 12 with special academic, social, and emotional needs. We are located in Irvine CA. Our mission is to improve the academic and emotional well-being of any child who struggles with learning, social, and/or emotional challenges. We provide a safe, therapeutic learning environment that teaches the academic, social, and coping skills needed for students to experience success.

Job Summary Job Summary

The teaching assistant (TA) is a member of a teaching team who supports the Education Specialist in a special education classroom of up to 12 students with social/emotional/learning and behavioral issues. A VALID 30-day substitute teaching permit, issued by the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing, is required for the job. If the applicant does not have the permit, they must be eligible to apply for and receive one. Most of our assistants are currently working toward obtaining credentials or graduate degrees in a related field. Our program utilizes a therapeutic, rather than ABA approach.

General Description:

Full-time Assistant Teacher position supporting an Ed. Specuialist in a special education elementary grade classroom of students with social/emotional, learning, and behavioral issues. For information about the school and population served, please visit www.mardanschool.org.

Specific Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree A Valid 30-Day Substitute Permit issued by the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing (or meeting all requirements to obtain such) - Up to an $1,100 stipend is offered Classroom or direct experience supervising students with behavioral issues is DESIRED. (Most of our Assistant Teachers are currently working towards credentials or graduate degrees in related fields.) Knowledge and experience with special education, behavior management techniques, and/or working with children with autism spectrum disorders, is highly desired. Hours, Salary, Benefits:

Full-time position for approximately 33 hours per week, 9/1 to 7/31 annually. Hours are approx. 8:15 am to 3:15 pm M - F Compensation is $20.00 to $23.00 per hour.  BENEFITS INCLUDE: 10 personal days paid Medical, dental, vision insurance offerred (Employer pays up to 75% of medical and dental + 100% of employee vision) Employer paid life insurance Long term disability insurance offerred 403B plan SEP/IRA contribution by employer retirement plan
