Description:Paramedic - PRN - Nights - Emergency Department - St. Mary's Hospital, Athens, GA

Position Purpose:
Carries out routine patient care duties & related activities under the direct supervision of a RN.
What you will do:

The paramedic is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of therapeutic patient care, patient advocacy, team dynamics, & hospital systems.  Requires a high degree of initiative & independent judgment. The paramedic will work at the top of their State License with the exception of Intubation and will be required to document their assessments, IVs and phlebotomy, and administer medications ordered by the emergency department physician. The paramedic will work independently alongside the nursing staff to help augment ED clinical staffing to facilitate efficient patient flow.​

What you will need: 

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certified or licensed as a Paramedic by the State of Georgia. Must be currently certified in American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support and a current BLS certification is required. 

Education: Must possess a high school diploma or GED. The Paramedic must hold current State Licensure and meet all requirements of the Georgia State Office of EMS.

Experience: A minimum of two years experience as a Paramedic is preferred.

Degree of Supervision Required: Is able to function independently w/ minimal supervision. Is directly responsible to the CTL &/or Charge Nurse in directing & providing patient care.
