Paramedic - Emergency Department
Major Responsibilities:Perform phlebotomy, IV starts, wound care, Foley catheter insertion, and airway management.Transport patients and place them on cardiac and vital sign monitors.Obtain and process lab specimens.Document procedures and observations; promptly communicate patient needs to licensed clinicians.Assist with medication administration and emergency response under clinician direction.Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care settings.Support and reinforce patient/family education and document learning outcomes.Process daily patient charges and procedures in the electronic health record (EHR).Facilitate communication between physicians, staff, and EMS systems.Maintain a clean, safe environment and ensure equipment functionality.Perform patient positioning and transport using proper body mechanics.Provide age-appropriate care based on developmental and clinical needs.

Licensure, Registration, and Certification Required:EMT-Paramedic license issued by the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) – required within 6 months.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA – required within 6 months.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from AHA – required within 6 months.

Education Required:Completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program.

Experience Required:Typically requires 1 year of experience as a Paramedic or in a related clinical role.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Completion of Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or equivalent may substitute for PALS.Basic computer skills and familiarity with EHR systems.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.High attention to detail and ability to maintain required certifications.
