Job Summary:
Are you a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) seeking to make a difference in the lives of others? Join our team at Adult & Child Health in Indianapolis, where you’ll provide direct and supportive care to clients across behavioral health and medical settings.
As an EMT, you’ll be responsible for monitoring and documenting client health, including vitals, supporting treatment teams with crisis intervention, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and supportive care to clients/patients in line with program expectations.
Monitor client behavior, document interactions, and report concerns to supervisors and treatment teams.
Conduct health monitoring, including vital signs, and support crisis intervention.
Assist in the admission and orientation process by taking vitals, conducting safety searches, and collecting lab/urine specimens when needed.
Respond to incoming and crisis calls, coordinating appropriate follow-up.
Ensure client rights, rules, and precaution protocols are adhered to, maintaining safety and accountability.
Support detoxification clients to ensure recovery needs are met (when applicable).
Work with nursing staff to ensure medication policies are followed.
Provide transportation to clients as needed.
Participate actively in staff meetings, training, and treatment planning sessions.
Uphold confidentiality, program philosophy, and ethical standards at all times.
Complete all mandatory trainings in accordance with state and accreditation standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by program leadership.
Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two (2) years of responsible employment history required.
Experience in human services or behavioral health preferred./
Required License/Certification:
Current EMT-B certification (Indiana)
Additional Qualifications:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
Calm, professional demeanor in crisis situations.
Knowledge of confidentiality laws related to mental health and substance use treatment.
Proficiency in documenting and reporting client care activities accurately.
