Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a **Paralegal** to work at a facility in ** ** **Poughkeepsie** **, NY.** These are _registry_ positions with our company. **Pay Rate:** $22 / hour *W2 **Shift details:** + 37.5 hours per week Duties: -Front desk reception duties (answering phone and front door) -Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal assistants including: opening and closing case files, scanning an distributing mail, and downloading e-filed documents to distribute and upload to our database -Under the direction of an attorney the position will involve compiling and organizing filed and documentation, preparing and assisting in the preparation of legal documents and forms, cataloging information, updating databases or spreadsheets, and preparing correspondence and subpoenas. -Performs pre-trial related activities: -Schedules witnesses and collects information relevant to the case. -Reviews case-related materials for lines of questioning. -Assembles exhibits and briefs. -Assists at trials or hearings by managing the exhibits and suggesting relevant questions for the attorney to raise. -Draft discovery demands and response. -Prepares and files with the courts all associated court papers as directed or authorized by the attorney. -Performs service of process or arrange for service of process through an outside vendor. -Completes routine investigative work for attorney review. -Gathers complete information from a variety of sources. -Provides a preliminary analysis of information to attorneys. -Deposition scheduling and witness scheduling. -Manages the flow of case-related materials -Maintains or oversees tracking systems, calendars, and reporting systems. -Opens and closes files or cases or oversees the process of opening or closing files and cases. -Performs activities related to docketing, the placement of court-related activities on the court calendar, and on the attorney's calendar. -Draft legal responses to the courts or other interested parties as directed or authorized by the attorney: -Prepares portions of briefs, affidavits, affirmations, and other motion-related papers. -Answers routine questions from the public, -Prepares discovery responses. -Prepares answers on routine matters. -Prepares reports.
