Objectives and responsibilities The Painter and Finisher is responsible and accountable to Mechanical Transport Maintenance Section Supervisor MTMSS for the overall management and the safe, effective and efficient delivery of contracted maintenance and repair of the military Mechanical Transport (MT) fleet and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) with respect to the preparation, surface finishing and painting. To contribute to the effective contract performance by working with the MTMSS to support the implementation of company, MoD policies and strategies in order to achieve the business objectives. Administration in everyday duties including but not limited to workshop housekeeping, tool and equipment control. Ensure that all necessary risk assessments have been raised and reviewed, and that you are aware of and comply with safety requirements. Ensure adherence to the Quality Assurance process in accordance with the Mitie company order book and procedures laid down in military publications. Use Technical Documents On Line (TDOL) to support equipment painting at all times, including creating demands for spares and replacement tools from such documentation and associated publications. Liaison with civilian suppliers, and the supply section to obtain spares and consumables not available through normal service sources.
Main Duties
Paint Mechanical Transport and Aircraft Ground Support equipment iaw extant military publications. Prepare equipment for spraying. Carry out corrosion control and repairs to body work. Demand spares and consumables using the military supply system. Ensure Paint and other materials are stored correctly and a system of stock rotation is employed to reduce waste. Raise and progress work services for the Paint Shop as required. Ensure all firefighting appliances are checked monthly for serviceability. Conduct continuous reviews of inventories held and that they are checked and handed over when personnel depart. Daily checks on tools and tool boards are fully iaw military regulations. Ensure weekly independent tool checks are carried out and signed for. Be prepared to undertake training as required to achieve above tasks. Ensuring all pre-use checks and records for the Breathing Apparatus and associated equipment is correctly maintained. Operate graphics programmes. Welding and fabrication. Carry out any other task within the post holder's capabilities and experience in support of the Contract as directed by the Airfield Operations Manager or their representative. What we are looking for Professionally qualified surface finisher, with experience of maintenance of vehicles and airfield support equipment would be desirable. Welding and fabrication qualifications would be desirable. Good standard of education with good IT skills. Full clean driving licence. Good communication skills with staff, managers and the client. Able to deal effectively with periods of intense activity, working under pressure meeting deadlines without supervision. Able to support the QHSE manager.Additional information
