**Description** GENERAL SUMMARY: Applies paint and other coatings to metal, wood, and fabricated items, utilizing various techniques to achieve desired finishes and meet specified requirements. **Duties and Responsibilities:** + Applies lacquer, rust-proofing agents, and other coatings to surfaces. + Performs special finishing techniques such as marbling and graining. + Prepares items for painting by tinting, toning, matching, blending, and mixing additives. + Paints articles using brushes and other methods. + Is required to use a spray gun. + Transfers items to and from work area. + Follows instructions provided through routings, blueprints, specifications, and other documentation. + Pays close attention to detail to ensure precise coating application and avoid defects. **Knowledge and Skills:** + Thorough knowledge of accepted surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. **Other Requirements:** + Must be able to obtain a security clearance. + May be designated according to the article painted.
