**Position Description**
Effective November 1, 2025, one full-time permanent faculty position as an Academic Clinician is available in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, the Department of Paediatrics at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), 555 University Avenue, Toronto, ON. SickKids is an academic health science centre dedicated exclusively to infants, children, and adolescents, affiliated with the Temerity Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.
The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (GHN) comprises 18 highly collegial faculty members, who provide tertiary/quaternary-care clinical programs and maintain a high volume, high impact research output in one of the leading GI divisions in North America **.** The position offers a unique environment for medical science discoveries near nine teaching and research hospitals and Canada's largest university.
The successful candidate must have excellent clinical abilities in general GHN and have training and subspecialty expertise in paediatric hepatology and liver transplantation.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will be expected to provide clinical care, which will include contribution to one or more of the GHN in-patient services (liver transplant/hepatology; GHN in-patients; consult service), providing hepatology out-patient clinics, providing GI endoscopic procedures, and participating in the on-call schedule, all within a tertiary/quaternary care environment. The ability to cover the liver transplant in-patient service is mandatory. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the Hepatology program at SickKids, working closely with Hepatology staff members, liver and liver transplant allied health members and the surgical team.
Academic responsibilities will include teaching and mentoring fellows within the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (GHN) fellowship training program, as well as conducting clinical research. The SickKids Research Institute, housed in the state-of-the-art Peter Gilgan Centre for Research & Learning, comprises seven fully integrated research programs ( http://www.sickkids.ca/Research/ ). Opportunities for teaching in other academic programs and engagement in clinical quality improvement initiatives are also available.
The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($275,571-$340,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package.
All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
