This position is responsible for the supervision of construction activities at the Mozambique LNG project, a strategic oil and gas initiative with onshore facilities including LNG trains, storage, marine and utility infrastructure. The role exists to ensure effective management and execution of site works by contractors and subcontractors in accordance with contract agreements, focusing on safety, environmental management, project schedule adherence, cost control, assurance and compliance with all relevant standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities Quality Leadership & Strategy Promote safety commitment across all client, contractor and subcontractor teams through strong HSE leadership. Lead by example to embed a strong safety culture within the project environment. Coordinate with other departments to deliver fit-for-purpose facilities safely and on schedule. Quality Compliance & Oversight Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE requirements throughout the works to foster a healthy and safe workplace. Monitor and review contractor assurance activities and verification documentation. Oversee that all works are performed in alignment with approved plans and procedures. Project Execution Support Supervise a team of up to 20 personnel involved in construction activities. Work and interface with other company discipline superintendents, engineers, planners, authorities, contractors, and vendors to achieve key contract deliverables. Assist in gathering and validating lessons learnt from the project team for feedback. Reporting & Performance Management Analyse and report performance of contractor and subcontractor activities, identifying deviations and contributing to timely mitigation measures. Support the project management team to manage budget, schedule milestones, and adherence to national specifications and standards. Contribute to timely proposal of risk mitigations and assurance improvements. Training & Continuous Improvement Ensure ongoing understanding of areas essential for large project success, including safety, environmental, quality, and reputation. Encourage sharing of lessons learnt and best practices within the team. Support continuous improvement through feedback and validation processes. Qualifications & Experience Degree or diploma qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline field related to oil and gas construction projects. Minimum 10 years’ experience in related discipline works with general knowledge in the oil and gas industry. Full understanding of elements critical to large complex projects, including safety, environmental, work organization, cost, schedule, quality, and organizational competency. Key Competencies Strong HSE culture and proven safety leadership. Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence critical decisions. Fluency in English (written and verbal); Portuguese or French advantageous.
