P&C Insurance Senior Project Manager, Professional Services - Tokyo Japan

The Role:

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing large-scale implementation projects involving Guidewire core applications. Your responsibilities will include the management of an Agile Information Technology team, the coordination of stakeholders, and collaboration with business personnel. Subject to project delivery requirements, you may be tasked with managing up to two projects concurrently.

Responsibilities:

Spend most of your day working with Software related Projects & Implementation of Software 

Manage the Project Lifecycle from start to completion 

Manage scope, time, budget, goals, scheduling, updates and strategy of projects 

Lead meetings, coach team to write specs, maintain project documentation, user stories

Communicate project status to management 

Utilize software such as JIRA, Confluence, etc. 

Assist in planning & execution strategies of application configuration 

Assist in software development requests 

Maintain a positive implementation experience for customers.

Manage Guidewire implementation project team in an Agile environment.

Implementation partner management, tracking of financials and costs, as well as issue/risk management.

Facilitate meetings, including identification of action items and follow up.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

BS or BA degree required

10+ years of Project/Program Management experience; Must have project experience  managing $1-$3m project(s)

Experience leading enterprise technology implementations leveraging agile and understands agile tools and concepts

Required Skills

Strong customer facing skills in Japanese

Demonstrated skill in working with implementation partners, and managing large multi-functional projects including software package implementations and information architecture.

Strong leadership skills

Follows Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies to ensure complete, documented deliverables, controls, issue resolution, risk mitigation, etc.

Very strong communication skills (listening, written and verbal).

Demonstrated excellent negotiation skills within challenging situations.

Ability to get up to speed quickly in new situations.

Ability to function successfully within fast paced, high stress projects.

Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization in both business and IT areas.

Experience working with onshore and offshore resources.

Technical knowledge.

Demonstrated ability to lead a team with effective decision making.

Effective leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills

Shows a track record of building effective cross functional teams across multiple geographic locations

Ability to deal with issues directly, firmly, and in a timely manner; doesn’t allow problems to fester; regularly reviews performance and holds timely discussions
