Job Description
Insight Global is looking for an Outside Sales Representative to join a dynamic commercial team. This individual will serve as the primary interface with customers, focusing on marketing and selling steel products while driving long-term growth. Responsibilities include developing territory sales forecasts, conducting pricing analyses, and identifying opportunities for new customer development. The territory includes Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, and potentially Illinois. The role involves roughly 20 customer visits per week (e.g., 3 on Monday, 5 on Tuesday–Thursday, 3 on Friday) and at least 4 overnight stays per month. Daily tasks include managing electronic order entry, expediting orders, resolving claims, and ensuring accurate pricing. The position requires frequent travel, collaboration with internal teams, and proactive communication to deliver exceptional customer service.

Skills and Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience
• Minimum of five (5) years of sales experience (outside sales highly preferred; inside sales considered if duties include quoting, cold calling, and competitive feedback—not just order entry)
• Advanced computer skills
• Excellent organizational, administrative, and time-management abilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Proven market development, sales, negotiation, and closing ability
• Self-motivated and self-directed, with strong personal integrity and interpersonal skills • Carbon steel sales experience highly preferred
• Knowledge of high-strength steel, wear-resistant steel, and specialty steel grades
• Familiarity with value-added services and solutions in the steel industry
• Broad industry-specific product knowledge, including applications in construction, automotive, heavy equipment, and manufacturing sectors
• Experience in other industrial sales industries acceptable
