Job Specification The Outreach section monitors local and state issues and updates leadership accordingly. Each outreach representative serves as a liaison for the Attorney General within their region of responsibility and supports the Louisiana Department of Justice’s community outreach efforts. Outreach representatives disseminate resources and information on a number of consumer topics aimed at educating citizens and small businesses on issues such as elder fraud, home repair scams, landlord and tenant laws, veterans’ resources, tips for natural disaster victims, internet safety, and vaping prevention for students (middle school and high school). Outreach partners with sheriffs, chiefs of police, district attorneys, victim advocates and other to host regional and statewide trainings for law enforcement officers on domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, and the fentanyl crisis. Reaching out to Louisiana’s youth is a top priority. As an Outreach representative you will give presentations in elementary and middle about the harm effects of vaping and tobacco products and educated students on how to “be smart” and stay safe on the internet. In addition to presentations and trainings, outreach offers information booths at senior expos, community fairs, trade shows, and conferences. Representatives participate in several awareness programs year-round, including Financial Literacy Month in January, Crime Victims’ Rights Week in April, Older Americans Month in May, Internet Safety Month in June, and Military Consumer Month in July, Take Back the Night, and National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October and Veterans Day in November. Job Duties and Other Information The position of Outreach Representative in the Executive Division may consist of, but is not limited to, the following duties: + Monitor local and state issues with in his or her region and updates the Outreach Director accordingly; + Act as a liaison between the Attorney General and all constituents; + Maintain a good working relationship with the Attorney General and staff; + Serve as the Attorney General’s regional representative—facilitating communication, addressing community concerns, and supporting the Louisiana Department of Justice’s education and outreach initiatives; + Communicate to community groups and raises awareness of LADOJ and its benefits to consumers with effective outreach activities and education; + Inform the Outreach Director of all happenings in his or her assigned region by screening media sources and interacting with the community; + Identify outreach opportunities by communicating with various constituency groups, including consumers, businesses, seniors, youth, veterans, civic associations, federal, state and local elected officials, community organizations, minority groups, religious leaders, schools, colleges and universities; + Monitors community events, activities, and meetings for the Attorney General’s participation; + Prepares a weekly report for the Outreach Director after each event, activity, meeting, etc.; + Maintain up-to-date, detailed calendar through shared calendar system; + Participate in outreach staff conference calls and outreach and LADOJ trainings; + Works a flexible schedule including long hours, nights, and weekends; + Other duties as assigned.
