Sentara is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for our Outpatient Pharmacy at Norfolk General Hospital

Location: Norfolk General Hospital

Status: Flexi / PRN (8 hrs/week with opportunities to pick up additional hours)

Shift: Rotating 8 hr Shifts

Hours: 8:45am-7:15pm

Occasional Saturdays and Holidays

The Pharmacy Tech II performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work areaDemonstrates the ability to competently work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practiceTraining in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positionsParticipates in the training of new employeesFills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner as required by specialty positionEnsures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient careTriages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as neededUses appropriate systems for processing patient informationEnsures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirementsOperates pharmacy equipment appropriatelyTraining in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functionsIn addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is:$19.04 - $31.73. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
