Key Responsibilities + Promptly greets patients and families in person and by telephone with a friendly and helpful attitude. Answers medication-related inquiries, requests authorization for refills, and provides guidance on prescription pick-up. Responds efficiently to inquiries by health care providers with pharmacy question and refer inquiries to the pharmacist as needed + MassPAT PMP requirements, 340B eligibility, or other pertinent procedures. Determines and updates patient's insurance information, calls insurance companies to verify coverage, processes claims through the patient's insurance. + Collaborates with the pharmacist and prescribers to formulate a solution, such as an alternative medicine or co-pay discount program. + Compounds simple or complex non-sterile medications in accordance with established policies, procedures and professional standards. + Maintains pharmacy inventory by monitoring medication and supplies stock levels, anticipating needed medications and supplies, and removing outdated/expired drugs. Places and expedites orders, receives orders, rotates medications, restocks supplies. Ensures the proper storage of all medications in accordance with policies and procedures. + Performs routine quality control, cleaning and equipment maintenance tasks according to established procedures and schedules. Requirements Education/ Certification + High School Diploma or equivalent + Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy. + Current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association. + Completion of a Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy approved training program or a minimum of 500 hours worked as a pharmacy technician trainee.
