Cleveland Clinic’s Digestive Disease & Surgery Institute (DDSI) provides patients with the most advanced level of medical and surgical care, primarily focused on the safe and proven treatment of disorders related to the gastrointestinal tract. This position is for an MA or Clinical Technician who will be managing all patients for our Breath testing service. This includes scheduling, notifying patients of their prep and performing the Breath tests and sending the results to physicians to review at our Park East location in Beachwood.
A caregiver in this position works 7:00am to 3:30pm or 8:00am to 4:30pm with rotating evenings and weekends.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Complete rooming process, including vitals, height, weight, and completion of intake questions and documents and reports abnormal findings to RN or LIP. Collect patient specimens, perform Point of Care Testing, and prepare specimens for transport to lab. Prepare patients for exams, tests and procedures and assist with exams, treatments and procedures using sterile techniques as applicable. Perform patient treatments as directed, to include the application of heat or cold, simple sterile dressing changes, and application and removal of casts, braces, and splints. Document in the electronic health record and assists with management of in-baskets and closure of care gaps. Assist with setting up the clinic for daily operations and closing clinic in accordance with departmental guidelines. Stock supplies and linens as applicable. Cleans, monitors expiration dates and restocks dressing supply cart, checks AED units and oxygen tanks, and empties needle boxes using appropriate safety measures. Maintain all designated work areas in a clean and orderly manner. Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, patient outreach, and patient registration.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross One year recent health care experience in a hospital, ambulatory, homecare, assistant living, nursing home or long-term care settingPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Proficient in the use of electronic medical recordsPhysical Requirements:
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.Personal Protective Equipment:
