Our Orthopedic and Sports Medicine team treats the full spectrum of sports related injuries and orthopedic conditions, from common injuries to the most complex. We offer a range of services such as sports conditioning, physical therapy, injury prevention, and surgical/non-surgical treatments.
We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Orthopedic Technician to work onsite at our Orthopedic and Sports Medicine office Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. This Orthopedic Technician will float between 288 Groveland Street in Haverhill and 231 Sutton Street in North Andover.

SummaryUnder the supervision, provides specialized support in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of orthopedic conditions. Assists in the application of casts, braces, splints, and other orthopedic devices, and may also assist in surgical procedures.

Essential Functions
-Set up and apply traction in accordance with standard procedures and instructions.
-Assist with the application of casts, braces, and prostheses. Requisition, store, and dispense supplies as directed.
-Inspect and maintain orthopedic equipment.
-Instruct selected patients in cast care, simple exercises, and crutch or cane use. Apply sterile and non-sterile dressings.
-Make splints, slings and foot pieces.
-May make rounds with doctors of all orthopedic patients and carry out instructions.
-Cut and fashion devices from metal, plastic, leather and wood using equipment and hand tools.

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Orthopaedic Technologist Certification [OTC] - National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists, Inc. preferred
Experience
related patient care experience 2-3 years required experience in orthopedics 0-1 year preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of standard orthopedic procedures and practices.
- Working knowledge of orthopedic devices and appliances and proper fitting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology pertaining to orthopedics use.
- Communicate effectively when instructing patients in the use and care of orthopedic devices and appliances.
- Maintain effective working relationships with practitioners and other health center support staff.
- Be sensitive to and communicate effectively with diverse patients.
