Job Summary:
The LPN functions as an on-shift team member. Under the delegation of a Registered Nurse, the LPN collaborates and provides direct patient care to the meet the needs of patients, families, and co-workers. The LPN’s nursing assessment is a focused appraisal of an individual’s status and situation at hand,
contributing to assessment, analysis, and development of a comprehensive plan of care, developed by the RN.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
1. Delivers comprehensive patient-centered nursing care
2. Collaborates with the interprofessional team
3. Participates in ongoing and effective unit-based Nursing Performance Improvement, Quality Control and Continuous Quality Improvement programs.
4. Transports patients safely using appropriate patient handling skills.
5. Practice safe medication handling and administration.
6. Promotes throughput by assisting with admission and discharges.
7. Carries out the principles of positive customer relations
8. Uses work time productively
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
Graduate of an accredited LPN program
Current Kentucky LPN license
BLS required within 90 days
ACLS required within 180 days
NIHSS Certification is preferred
Completion of on the job training.
