Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Orthopedic Technician is an employee who participates in rendering Orthopedic care to the patients under the supervision of the Operating Room Supervisor and or the Orthopedic Surgeon on the nursing units or in the Operating Room.

Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks, skills, duties, procedures and responsibilities according to Medical Center Policy and Procedure. Including, but not limited to:Demonstrates ability to assess/interpret age-specific data.Encourages involvement of patient/family/significant other in decision making related to plan of care.Interviews patients and significant others to collect data necessary in the implementation of delegated orthopedic care.Seeks out orthopedic information from families, nurses, doctors and other health team members.Assesses for need of specialty equipment and the proper functioning of that equipment in preparation for an orthopedic case on the floor or in the operating room.
Job Requirements

Required

High School Graduate or GEDMinimum of one year experience as an orthopedic technician in an acute care setting or Physicians Office.Experiencewith different traction set ups and castingmaterials.AHA Basic Life Support - CPR
