Organized Retail Crime Asset Protection Manager

Albertsons-Safeway's Northern California Division has an opening for an Organized Retail Crime Asset Protection Manager.

Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Organized Retail Crime (ORC) program across the Northern California Division, comprising of stores in northern California, northern Nevada, and Hawaii. The ORC Manager is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive strategies to prevent, detect, investigate, and resolve organized retail crime impacting company assets. This role ensures alignment with Albertsons’ core values while fostering collaboration with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, and external partners to mitigate loss and enhance safety.


Responsibilities

Oversee complex criminal and civil investigations into individuals associated with ORC groups, including high-level field and fence investigations, ensuring thorough documentation and legal compliance. Lead the division’s ORC strategy, including prevention, investigation, and resolution of ORC-related incidents. Mentor Asset Protection Team and other field personnel, ensuring consistent performance and professional development. Develop and deliver ORC awareness and prevention training for internal teams and external partners. Serve as the primary liaison with law enforcement agencies, public officials, other retail ORC investigators, and industry coalitions. Analyze loss trends, investigative data, and security reports to inform resource allocation and strategic planning. Coordinate with store leadership and Asset Protection teams to implement proactive ORC deterrence measures. Represent the company in legal proceedings, including testimony in criminal and civil court cases. Conduct static and mobile surveillance of ORC suspects in accordance with company policies. Manage surveillance operations and ensure the effective use of technology and investigative tools. Maintain 24/7 availability to respond to critical ORC incidents and support field teams. Oversight of the division’s external investigation program and systems, including Auror, LPR, and other technologies. Special projects as assigned.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience considered

Experience

5+ years of experience in law enforcement, retail loss prevention, or organized retail crime investigations. 3+ years of leadership or management experience in a related field.

Skills

Proven expertise in surveillance, investigations, and evidence handling. Strong knowledge of criminal and civil law, including Penal and Evidence Codes. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex investigations, and drive results. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels. Experience working with law enforcement and public sector partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and investigative technologies (CCTV, video recovery, etc.). Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.

Travel Requirements: Division-wide travel, up to 70%

Physical Environment

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Work performed in both office and field environments. Extended periods of sitting, computer use, and travel. Must have reliable transportation and be available for travel on short notice. Exposure to outdoors when conducting surveillance. Exposure to potential hazards exists while responding to emergency situations. Various work conditions consist of a temperature-controlled store and occasionally outdoors environment


Albertsons Companies' Northern California Division support office is located in Pleasanton, CA and supports the operations of 286 retail stores across northern California, northwestern Nevada, and Hawaii under the Safeway, Andronico’s, Vons, and Pak ‘n Save Foods banners.
