ORC Instrument Management Coordinator

Position Summary

Provide support and coordination regarding instrument management functions to include purchasing, inventory, repair and maintenance and tracking system maintenance. This individual must also ensure a collaborative working relationship with the customer and manage instrumentation for multiple departments. Shift: 9:00 AM-5:30 PM  

Duties

· Manages surgical instrument, device, and product inventory, including purchasing, replacements, and instrument inventory, cross-referencing across manufacturers as needed.

· Leads budgeting efforts for surgical tools and inventory, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and proposing necessary modifications.

· Oversees instrument and device repair and maintenance programs, coordinating inspections, vendor repairs, and proactive maintenance.

· Coordinates missing item investigations and implements process improvements to reduce loss.

· Provides on-site support to hospital facilities, ensuring surgical tools are functioning properly and supporting cost-saving initiatives.

· Collaborates with System Executives, SPD Manager, Surgical and Perioperative teams to update count sheets, preference cards, tray configurations, and care protocols.

· Maintains and updates Instrument Tracking Systems as “Super User” by managing data accuracy, training staff, approving access, and developing usage instructions.

· Facilitates training and education sessions, including care and handling in-services for operating room and sterile processing staff.

· Manages sterilization assurance materials and supplies to meet departmental needs.

· Documents and reports cost savings initiatives, including tracking daily savings and identifying barriers to implementation.

· Communicates regularly with STERIS Account Managers and support teams to ensure customer needs are met and issues are resolved promptly

Required Experience

· High School diploma with 5 years’ experience working with surgical instruments/devices and/or as SPD/SCPD technician OR Associate’s degree from an accredited two-year college with 3 years’ experience working with surgical instruments/devices and/or as SPD/SCPD technician required.

· Must be able to be compliant with hospital/customer credentialing requirements.

Pay range for this opportunity is $20.43 - $26.44. This position is eligible for bonus participation. 

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
