Overview

Colorado Oral Surgery Group, located in Colorado Springs is growing and seeking an experienced Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time Monday through Friday position. This is a great opportunity to learn from top-notch oral surgeons and further develop your skills as a dental assistant. Our ideal Oral Surgery Assistant will come from an oral surgery background, have a desire to learn, be coachable and work well within a team environment.

 

Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 7:45am-4:30pm

Tuesday and Friday: 7:45am-1:45pm

Responsibilities: 

Assist surgeon with general anesthesia and IV sedation proceduresInform patients of pre-op and post-op instructionsProvide diagnostic information through x-rays, dental impressions, and castsMaintain patient's vital statistics and intravenous fluids during surgeryDocument treatment by charting in patient's recordsPassing surgical tools, surgical dressing preparation, and suture/debris removalEnsure the patient does not breathe in fluids during the procedure through constant monitoringProtect the patient’s lips, cheeks, and tongue from unnecessary injurySterilization of equipment and materialsObtain proper consent forms regarding surgery and update patient health historySetting up of the surgical suite based on the type of procedure being plannedPreparing patients by obtaining and recording the patient’s vital signsAttach relevant monitoring equipment in preparation for surgeryRe-sterilization of equipment and returning them to their proper placesContinued monitoring of vital signs and instruction on postoperative care with patient and/or chaperoneHelp recover patients from sedation and anesthesiaRecord treatment charts

Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in Oral or Periodontal SurgeryCPR/BLS/ACLS requiredX-Ray Certification requiredCertified Dental Assistant preferredDAANCE certified is a bonusAbility to take direction from an oral surgeon/Office ManagerThe ability to work in a fast-paced environmentDetail-orientedGood manual dexterity and ability to stand for long periodsShould be reliable and have strong interpersonal communication skills.
