Oracle Fusion PaaS Extension Architect

An exceptional opportunity for an Oracle Fusion PaaS Extension Architect to join a leading international company that protects water quality around the world. 
 

This position will suit an experienced Oracle Fusion Architect with fluent English language skills, who has set up PaaS environments and would enjoy involvement in a global implementation, from EBS/Infor to Fusion Cloud.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Business Application EU the Oracle Fusion PaaS Extension Architect is responsible for owning the target architecture and guardrails for Oracle Fusion Cloud extensions built on Oracle PaaS (“PaaS4SaaS”). Ensuring extensions are secure, upgrade‑safe, observable, and cost‑efficient, with clean interfaces to Fusion and surrounding systems.
 

This hybrid position is most ideally located in Berlin or Dusseldorf with a mixture of on-site and home working (we could help relocate within Germany).
 

In this role, a typical day will look like:

Architecture ownership & guardrails: Define reference architectures, patterns, and re‑usable building blocks for PaaS extensions; maintain a standards catalogue and quality gatesSolution design & reviews: Lead/approve solution designs; run architecture/design reviews; ensure separation from Fusion core and adherence to PaaS4SaaS principlesIntegration & data architecture: Define API strategy, resource models, versioning, idempotency, and eventing; steward contract ownership (OpenAPI/AsyncAPI) and data flows between Fusion, OIC, and extensionsSecurity & compliance: Define AuthN/Z models (OAuth2/OIDC, IDCS/OCI IAM), data classification, secrets management, and tenancy/compartment strategy; support GDPR/SOX controls and pen‑test remediationNon‑functional requirements: Establish SLOs/SLIs; design for performance, resilience, scalability, and observability; plan capacity and disaster recoveryRelease readiness: Own the quarterly‑update readiness process for extensions; define impact checks, smoke/contract tests, and rollback strategies; chair go/no‑go from an architecture perspectiveEngineering enablement: Standardize CI/CD, testing strategy, and IaC (Terraform/OCI Resource Manager); curate templates, starter repos, and coding standards for APEX/VBCS/ORDS.Cost management (FinOps): Forecast and monitor OCI consumption; enforce cost guardrails; optimize storage/compute patterns.Documentation & knowledge: Produce ADRs, diagrams (C4/sequence), runbooks, and architecture decision logs; mentor engineers; lead brown‑bag sessions.Vendor & stakeholder management: Evaluate partners and tools, drive make/buy decisions, and align stakeholders across IT and business.
 

The essential requirements of the job include:  

5-7+ years in cloud or integration architecture, with 3+ years hands‑on in Oracle PaaS for FusionStrong hands‑on depth in several of: Oracle APEX, VBCS/VB Studio, ORDS, OIC, Autonomous DB (SQL/PL/SQL), OCI servicesExpert API design and integration patterns: REST/JSON, SOAP/XML, event‑driven designs, versioning, idempotency; OpenAPI/AsyncAPIIdentity and security: OAuth2/OIDC, IDCS/OCI IAM, policy design, secrets management, network basics (VCN, WAF)Observability and reliability: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting; SLO/SLI design; incident/Problem managementCI/CD and automation: Git workflows, pipelines, artifact/version management, automated testing (unit, API/contract, E2E smoke), Terraform/OCI RMExcellent communication and stakeholder management; able to translate between business and engineeringFluent English (written/spoken)
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Oracle certifications (OCI Architect, APEX, OIC) or equivalentExperience in regulated environments (SOX, GDPR) and auditabilitySRE and FinOps exposure; performance tuning at SQL/APEX/VBCS and API levelsEvent streaming (OCI Streaming/Kafka), Functions, Async integration patternsTest automation at scale (REST Assured, Playwright, JUnit/pytest) and contract testing (Pact)German language skills are a plus in DACH environments, but not critical
