OR Nurses Needed – Make a Difference When It Matters Most!
Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse is a highly skilled and detail-oriented nursing professional responsible for providing safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments and verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure. • Prepare the operating room with appropriate equipment, supplies, and instrumentation. • Assist the surgical team during procedures by anticipating needs and maintaining a sterile field. • Administer medications and monitor patient responses during intraoperative care. • Document all patient care activities accurately in the electronic health record (EHR). • Provide postoperative assessments, pain management, and recovery support. • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety standards, and surgical best practices. • Participate in time-outs, instrument counts, and safety checks to prevent errors. • Respond promptly to emergencies and acute changes in patient condition. • Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff. Minimum Requirements: • Current Registered Nurse License in the state of practice. • Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience; OR experience preferred. • Completion of Amergis' Competency Program (if applicable). • Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred). • Knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures. • TB screening and health clearance as required. • Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. • Successful completion of OR orientation or training program. • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA. • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English. • Basic computer literacy. • Must be at least 18 years of age.
