**Summary:** At Reality Labs we aim to bring together cross-disciplinary minds in one place to deliver on our mission: build tools that help people feel connected, anytime, anywhere. As a Product Design Engineer, you will take a critical role in developing hardware systems for VR, AR, or New Technology Initiatives. You will become part of a team exploring developing concepts through prototyping and into mass-production consumer electronics. You will work as part of a cross functional team requiring collaboration in domains other than mechanical engineering. Our teams support mechanical engineering fundamentals, prototyping skills, CAD fluency, manufacturing process knowledge, and experience designing consumer electronics. **Required Skills:** Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities: 1. Contribute to mechanical solutions as part of a highly cross-functional team 2. Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems 3. Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product 4. Collaborate and manage work with Asia-based Supply Chain 5. Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems while working with cross functional technical teams 6. Travel to external vendors up to 20% **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 7. BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience 8. 2+ years of experience in related/relevant fields 9. Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, GD&T, and 3D/2D CAD 10. Working knowledge in material properties, such as plastics, metal, adhesive, and glass 11. Testing and analysis experience (FEA, Simulation, Design of Experiments, etc.) 12. Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.) 13. Proven technical communication skills **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 14. MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience 15. Design eye piece assembly (that may include display) that enables user experience that includes AI enabled experiences. Designing for high volume manufacturing (>10 million units per year) balancing performance, cost and industrial design 16. In-depth understanding of mechanical design as it relates to optical performance, precision engineering, and manufacturing process 17. Experience with CAD design tools, such as NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar 18. Experience in GD&T standards, dimensional metrology, statistics, Gauge R&R, and their application to process and design controls in high volume manufacturing 19. Experience with design for manufacturability and assembly, with a focus on cost-effective and efficient design solutions 20. Experience with applying analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze complex systems and identify innovative solutions 21.
