Optical Transceiver Engineer – Ottawa, ON

We are seeking an experienced Optical Transceiver Engineer to join a cutting-edge optical systems team in Ottawa. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is ready to take ownership of optical plug qualification from start to finish.

What You’ll DoOwn the lifecycle of optical transceivers (plugs) from requirements gathering to lab testing and documentation.Interface directly with suppliers to evaluate and qualify new pluggable optics.Perform bench-level testing of optical modules (SFPs, SFP+, QSFP-DDs, QSFP-DD100) including:Optical testingElectrical signal integrity (DCAs, VOAs, BERTs)Write and maintain technical specifications (based on IEEE standards).Document test results and input data into AGILE manufacturing systems.Support debugging of system-level and customer field issues.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, FPGA, supply chain, product verification).

What You BringBachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.2+ years of hands-on experience with optical transceiver testing (IMDD / grey optics).Strong understanding of I2C interfaces and optical component behavior.Ability to work independently and take full ownership of plug qualification.Excellent communication skills — comfortable interfacing with vendors and internal teams.Valid work authorization in Canada (required).Nice to HaveExperience with MATLAB or similar tools for simulation/test automation.Familiarity with Agile manufacturing systems.Knowledge of fiber optic communications and industry standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
