Ophthalmic Technician I- Urgent Eye Care Center

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Ophthalmic Technician to support the Urgent Eye Care Center located at 1622 Locust Street, Ste. G.130 Pittsburgh, Pa., 15219. This role will work Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm (opportunity for overtime; hours for the clinic are Monday through Friday 8am to 9pm). Less than 5% travel will be required to cover other services within the Vision Institute and/or Satellites.
The Urgent Eye Care Center only sees urgent and emergency ophthalmology needs. No routine exams nor refractions. As we continue to grow there will be room for growth, in addition to the career ladder.
Responsibilities:
Refractometry: auto-refractor, transposing scripts from + to – Contact lenses: insertion, removal and instructions Pupillary assessment: measurement, compare and evaluate. History taking to include ocular, medical, medication, social and family. Lensometry: automated and manual Angle assessment & dilation of pupils Assist with maintaining office inventory, notifying appropriate staff when supplies are needed, restocking exam rooms, cleaning and sterilizing of instruments and cleaning patient exam rooms at end of day. Visual fields: Amsler grid & confrontation fields Supplemental skills: Color testing, glare test Ocular Motility: Knowledge of the functions & anomalies, cover tests, stereo-acuity, nystagmus Tonometry: Icare, Tonopen and the care and proper disinfection of Visual acuity assessment: with and without correction, distance, near and intermediate, pinhole, best corrected, potential acuity, brightness acuity
