Operator in Training (OIT)

Role Summary/Purpose

GE Vernova is seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Operator in Training (OIT) to join our power generation team in Vancouver, WA. This entry-level role supports the daily operation and maintenance of key plant systems including gas turbines, steam turbines, diesel generators, pumps, compressors, and water treatment systems. The OIT will perform inspections, log data, respond to alarms, assist in plant startups and shutdowns, and carry out routine maintenance tasks under the direction of a Shift Supervisor.

Essential Responsibilities

Work with mechanical equipment which includes diesel engines, emergency generator, heat recovery steam generator, reverse osmosis and EDI water treatment systems, air compressors, motors, pumps, etc.Perform routine inspections and tests to ensure plant is operating at optimal levelMonitor and maintain all required data logs/records outside of the control roomMaintain log of meter and gauge reading and record data such as water test results and quantity of fuel consumedAssist in plant shutdown and startup proceduresOperate all plant equipment/systems within scope of responsibilityAssist/perform routine maintenance of basic plant equipmentReport any conflicts to the Shift SupervisorComplete the routine inspections and assigned tasks to support the site Discharge Prevention Containment and Countermeasures Plan as well as handle all hazardous materials and wastes in a safe and environmentally friendly mannerAggressively maintain a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of assigned work area and comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety policiesAssist in shutdown and startup procedures during outagesRespond to all alarms and malfunctions of plant operations and take necessary corrective measures per the instruction of the shift supervisorPerform maintenance activities as directedPerform Lock Out Tag Out duties in accordance with site proceduresPerform other duties as requested, as well as all reasonable requests from the shift supervisor and manager

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma/GED with 2+ years of industrial experience or an Associate’s degree in Power Generation, Mechanical, Electrical, or related fieldPossess a valid driver's licenseAbility and willingness to work rotating shiftsAbility and willingness to climb ladders and stairs as requiredAbility and willingness to walk/stand for up to 12 hours as requiredAbility and willingness to lift up to 50 pounds as requiredAbility to pass a drug testAbility to pass a background checkAbility and willingness to complete a physical and other evaluations for hearing and respirator use upon hire and annually thereafterAbility to incorporate teamwork into daily operating and safety work tasksAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several variablesComply with all applicable environmental, health and safety policiesAbility to accept feedback and deal calmly and effectively under high-stress situationsAbility to adjust to daily work scope changes as required to operate the facilityStrong mathematical knowledge to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volumeStrong verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organizationWorking knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications

About Us

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $28-$34 USD Hourly.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
