Location/Division Specific Information:

The Marietta Manufacturing site is a part of the Laboratory Products Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific. Our laboratory equipment products are used primarily by pharmaceutical companies for drug discovery and development and by biotechnology companies and universities for life science research to advance the prevention and cure of diseases and enhance quality of life. Our offering consists of equipment, accessories, and services for sample preparation, storage and protection, and analysis.

How Will You Make an Impact?:

The Operator will support the manufacturing process by operating various machinery to provide high quality parts for work cells to meet scheduled demands.

A Day in the Life:

Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data; continue operation to accomplish production goals.Calculate and set controls to regulate machine and enter commands to edit program in order to accomplish quality production goals.Confirm accuracy of first set ups regarding size, shape, forming sequence, etc., using test pieces and again with first production piece and at subsequent intervals.Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.Retrieve, input, interpret drawings and other data found in computer system.Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance results, and adjust machine controls or control settings as required.Troubleshoot work-related problems by applying knowledge and experience to efficiently maintain production/quality goals with minimal attrition to equipment.Use computer (SAP) system shared plant-wide to accomplish and track production data.Measure, count, coordinate materials and parts to monitor production quality and volume.Clean scale or scrap from die with air hose or brush to achieve quality.Grinds out burrs and sharp edges, using portable grinder.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

Required: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, or related fieldPreferred: Experience in a cGMP environment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Ability to read and differentiate part numbers, labels, and work instructions.Computer and keyboarding.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Standing, bending, reaching and handling bulky parts is common to the job. Frequently lifts up to 35 pounds
