Location/Division Specific Information:Asheville Manufacturing is part of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Laboratory Products Division. Products support pharmaceutical, biotech, and university labs.
How Will You Make an Impact?
You will support the manufacturing process by fabricating and constructing laboratory refrigeration systems required for standard and custom equipment.
A Day in the Life:Fabricate and assemble products and parts according to specifications, build sheets, and verbal instructions, with an emphasis on safety and quality.Evacuate and charge units by pumping gases and oils per detailed specifications.Troubleshoot work-related problems by applying knowledge and experience toward resolution and seeking assistance when necessary.Inspect assembly components for leaks using gas handlers and perform specified processes, listening for and observing results.Perform mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration-related troubleshooting on units and make critical repairs.Identify fault causes and perform necessary repairs to ensure units operate accurately and pass the final inspection stage.Input and extract data for final inspection reports and testing via Excel and other software.Inspect and test components to ensure quality and workmanship meet standards before advancing to the next production stage.Interpret test data to ensure the operational quality of finished units.Perform final inspections to ensure all faults have been identified and resolved.Route tubing, braze connections, inspect for leaks, and charge systems to meet quality and safety standards.Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications using various measurement tools.Operate tube cutting and flaring equipment using machines and hand tools.Assemble parts using hand tools or portable power tools.Calibrate circuit boards according to product specifications.Finish necessary paperwork like Final Inspection Reports and Total Quality Control sheets.Enter product-related data into computer systems to track component serial numbers and production rates.Transport, store, and replace gases and tanks safely.Remove burrs and rough spots from parts as needed.Education:High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Experience:Preferred: Previous work experience in manufacturing, operations, production setting, or related field
Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environmentPhysical Requirements / Work Environment
Standing, bending, reaching, and handling bulky parts is common to the job. Frequently lifts up to 35 pounds.
