Job Title: Bakery Operator
Job Description

The Bakery Operator position is an entry-level training role responsible for operating various production and packaging equipment. Reporting to the Line Supervisor, the Operator will assist with machinery and equipment management, ensuring proper operation as per work instructions. Training will be provided to ensure proficiency in selected equipment, with opportunities for certification and advancement to Senior Operator. Responsibilities include managing weights, settings, packaging, quality, and more. Safety is a priority, and the Operator must alert management to any safety or quality issues.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure adherence to all safety, GMP, and quality policies and regulations.Monitor all production areas to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications.Assist with training and cross-training when necessary.Provide breaks and lunch rotations to employees as directed.Continuously improve knowledge of products and manufacturing requirements.Maintain cleanliness of all responsible areas during and after production runs.Monitor finished product quality, focusing on reducing defects and increasing throughput.Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to address challenges and improve efficiencies.Perform routine safety checks to ensure a risk-free workspace.Essential SkillsExperience in production and general labor.Knowledge of GMP standards.Background in baking, food handling, and preparation.Experience in warehouse production and the manufacturing industry.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.Must be 18 years or older.Ability to lift and push/pull 50lbs continuously throughout the day without assistance.Capability to stand for 8-12 hours a day.Willingness to work overtime and weekends if needed.Basic English comprehension (speaking, reading, writing).Non-slip (oil/water rated) safety shoes are required.Compliance with PPE/GMP requirements, including restrictions on jewelry, perfumes, and certain attire.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment is a manufacturing and GMP setting, characterized by high temperatures and noise levels. The pace is fast, and the area is filled with pleasant bakery aromas. Employees should be prepared for potential gluten/flour exposure. Strict GMPs are followed, including dress codes, safety footwear, and hygiene practices. The facility is peanut-free, and designated areas are provided for tobacco use. Cell phones are restricted to specific non-production areas.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $22.75/hr.
