Operations Training Manager

Summary:

The Trainer People Competencies Specialist role focuses on developing, qualifying, and continuously improving the capabilities of operations personnel at the Air Separation Gas Plant. This includes designing, delivering, and maintaining training programs to ensure that Production Technicians, Engineers, and Supervisors have the technical expertise, safety mindset, and operational discipline needed for safe, reliable, and compliant plant performance.

In addition to serving as a subject matter expert in air separation processes, plant operations, and customer expectations, this role leads initiatives that enhance workforce competencies, engagement, and career development across the site.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Training Development:

Design, implement, and maintain training programs for production staff, including control room operations, field work, and customer use point activities.

Conduct onboarding training for new hires and provide ongoing refresher training for existing employees.

Develop structured operator qualification programs, skills matrices, and progression plans.

Ensure training materials reflect current best practices, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures.

Competency Management:

Define and maintain competency frameworks for all plant roles (technicians, engineers, supervisors).

Assess employee skills and performance against defined competency standards.

Identify skill gaps and create targeted development plans in collaboration with plant management.

Maintain accurate training and qualification records to support compliance and audits.

Safety Compliance:

Deliver safety, health, and environmental training to promote a strong safety-first culture.

Ensure staff are trained in emergency response procedures, process safety, and quality assurance requirements.

Support plant audits (internal, regulatory, and customer) by providing training and competency documentation.

Leadership Culture:

Partner with Plant Managers, Superintendents, and Engineers to build a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Act as a mentor and resource for employees seeking technical or career growth.

Champion employee engagement initiatives and foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
