Operations Technician
Establishes and maintains a safe work environment for all activities within his or her assigned unit.
Meets expectations of Unit Operators in the Facility Safety Management System. This includes:
Behaviour Based Job Observation program (LPO’s), Inspections, Safety Meetings, Hazard Identifications (HIDs), Near Misses, and Incident Reporting and investigation
Prepares plant as per PTW and ICC procedures for maintenance activities
Supports Emergency Response Preparedness as required
Knows how to use the available equipment
Participates in simulations as determined on schedule
Fulfils assigned role on emergency response teams
Follows all procedures, standards, and regulations required during the execution of his or her duties
Detects, identifies and reacts to abnormal conditions that might develop into emergency situations
Operates Unit to established parameters and operating targets
Supports the development of these targets
Follows required procedure deviation or critical device bypass procedures where approved procedures or work practices cannot be executed safely
Identifies and troubleshoots process or operating problems of assigned unit
Determines the problem; develops and implements corrective action
Maintains chemical inventory between established minimums and maximums; this includes both bulk and day storage vessels
Maintains chemical feed rates at established targets
Identifies and supports the testing of new ideas or opportunities for improvement
Manages Unit operation to minimize impact on the facility as a result of a process upset
Anticipates the result of changes in facility operation and develops appropriate mitigating plans and contingencies
Ensures that equipment requiring maintenance is prepared for the intended work and has all potential energy sources isolated
Initiates restorative maintenance requests for the assigned unit
Performs minor maintenance functions on operating equipment
Maintains housekeeping standards for the Unit
Communicates all required information regarding Unit performance to the Control Room Operator and to other affected Unit Operators
Maintains Unit Logbook: Makes clear concise entries
Ensures that all changes to unit are logged with appropriate explanation included
Exercises resourcefulness, innovation, and persistence in abnormal situations
Identifies and participates in the development or upgrade of procedures and training material as required
When qualified, acts as a stand-in as required for other positions
Supports the Training of backup Unit Operators
Trains operators on the unit's processes and equipment
Willing to undertake training as offered by the Company to expand his or her area of responsibility and competency
Maintenance (instrumentation or mechanics) within Operations
Offshore experience (minimum 3 years of offshore experience)
