The Operations Technician will set up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, monitor and control various site operations for the HDL. ICS is a part of Baker Hughes’ division for Climate Technology Solutions, innovating and developing the next generation of carbon capture utilization and storage technologies for product offerings across the energy industry. The position interfaces with multiple disciplines to provide effective operations of the system. This position will be part of a cross-disciplinary team working on both research and customer-facing development projects, typically involving complex systems, requiring development to be prototyped and deployed in challenging operating environments.
As an Operation Technician, you will be responsible for:
Operating Machinery: Interest and ability to work hands-on with equipment and or processes. Responsible for operating and controlling various internally developed equipment, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols. Attending meetings related to specific work areas.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance tasks like cleaning and troubleshooting minor issues. Assisting rigging up, assembling of packed column, checking sensors, repeated measurement to evaluate the repeatability and reproducibility of the sensors/ transmitters, leak testing, and assembling of test modules for analysis.
Monitoring and Quality Control: Monitor the production process, ensuring quality standards are met and identifying any deviations or potential equipment malfunctions. Preparation of solutions and taking samples for analysis by the on-site laboratory. Participate in experiments, analyze data, interpret results, and collaborate to evaluate product performance, reliability, and safety.
Documentation and Reporting: Running Python scripts and assisting in script troubleshooting. Uploading and updating experiment data, SOPs and risk assessments as per changes and associated video to SharePoint. Documentation of tasks, including equipment operation, maintenance activities, and reporting findings. Schedule weekly meetings and present data to stakeholders.
Fluid Analysis: Perform routine fluid analysis in chemistry laboratory, including measurement of fluid interfacial tension, dynamic viscosity, density as well as preparation of test fluids.
Safety Compliance: Ensure a culture of excellence around quality, health, safety, environment, and compliance. Follow safety protocols, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), participate in routine site inspections, and adhere to safety protocols and requirements.
Communication: Enable an environment of continuous learning and development, collaborating with engineers, managers, and other technicians; written and verbally. Work independently and in cross-functional teams. Empower and support peers in the overall delivery of ICS priority outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will have:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant STEM Field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) from an accredited college or university
Familiarity with Python and/or OpenCV is a plus; beneficial to have an interest in fluid properties and mass transfer.
1-5 years experience within manufacturing, research or technology development environment in oil and gas, chemical, automotive, aerospace or similar industries
This position does involve some lifting and the use of platform ladders; the candidate must be able to lift up to 40lbs and be okay with working for short periods of time at slightly elevated heights.
