Operations Supervisor - Maintenance
Summary The Operations General Foreman provides general supervision to the Operations Section of the Engineering Service which includes the Plant Operations Shop, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Shops. Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES: Plant Operations Shop: Responsible for the Physical Plant operation and the Central Control Panel. Provide 24-hour service, rotate shifts work independently and are often called on to work extra shifts during severe weather. Responds to all THE needs of the entire complex which consists of approximately 2,500 employees. The shop work consists of the operation, installation, preventive maintenance and repair of all environmental conditioning (HVAC&R) systems. This shop supplies HVAC, steam for heating, sterilizers, hot water generation and cooking throughout Medical Center. Water treatment for cooling towers condensers and chillers. Inspects machinery for proper operation. Advises management on training needs to the sections and suggests methods of satisfying needs, such as manufacturers' training, agency training, correspondence courses, etc. The incumbent participates in the selection of shop/shop leads and new employees. Initiates recommendations for hiring, promoting, and/or reassigning subordinate employees. The incumbent establishes reviews and evaluates performance requirements of shop foremen. Resolves informal complaints, Union grievances and potential conflicts among employees in shops. The incumbent inputs and retrieves data on VAMC computer system, such as, work orders, supplies, inventories, etc. Directs work assignments to not only sections under his/her immediate control but to the other trades within the facility. Responsible for life support systems, medication refrigeration, patient isolation rooms, and surgery spaces, which have strict Joint Commission and VA requirements for environmental conditioning. Inspects machinery for proper operation. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm.
