Division/Site Specific InformationPosition will sit onsite at the Whitby, Canada, site and will support the Drug Product Division (DPD) at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Discover Impactful Work:An Operations Strategy Project Leader is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the implementation of strategic initiatives within an organization's operations team (Processing & Packaging). This involves defining goals, allocating resources, managing timelines, monitoring progress, and ensuring effective communication among team members. The project lead will analyze data, identify process improvements, and collaborate with various departments to optimize operational efficiency and achieve the desired outcomes.
A Day in the Life:Develop and execute comprehensive operational strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives, focusing on cost-efficiency, resource utilization, and process optimization.
Lead cross-functional project teams to plan, coordinate, and execute strategic initiatives, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor progress towards operational goals, producing regular reports and updates for senior management.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and departments to ensure alignment of operational strategies with broader organizational goals.
Identify potential risks to project success and develop mitigation plans to ensure smooth project execution.
Assist in developing a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation, gathering feedback, and driving the implementation of best practices.
Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, motivating team members and ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and lessons learned, for future reference and knowledge sharing.
Present findings and recommendations to operations management in a clear and understandable manner, facilitating data-driven discussions and decision-making.
Work closely with the all Operations Managers and data collection resources to provide data-driven insights that inform the development and refinement of operational strategies.
Provide ad hoc support and generate reports as required to support site activities.
Keys to Success: EducationHigh school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required.
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or equivalent, an asset.
Experience
3-5 years production experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment in either powder blending/granulation, tablet compression and/or coating required.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in coaching, leading, and/or supervising a group or project required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Mechanical interest/aptitude.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to run and process batches in high potency manufacturing suites. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong organizational and communications skills.
Detail oriented and persistent with follow-ups to ensure completion.
Ability to work well independently and in a team environment with limited supervision.
Excellent knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Excellent understanding of Standard Operating Procedures.
Excellent understanding of safety standards.
Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
Proficiency with the English language.

Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives. Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion. Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems in order to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes, or odour. Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator.
Compensation
The salary range estimated for this position based in Canada is $69,400.00–$104,050.00.
