BAE Systems is hiring for an Operations Quality Engineer, Principal, to support on 3rd Shift. In this role as a principal level Operations Quality Engineer, you will develop,modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while also supervising, directing, and supporting the labor force to complete all tasks. This position is responsible for ensuring requirements are met through the final operations and vehicle testing processes specifically focused primarily on the AMPV platform.
Included duties:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the vehicle test garage on the 3rd Shift, including any coordination of changes with scheduling, resource allocation, equipment, and workflow management.
Plan and direct the activities of the vehicle testing team and set clear expectations and goals to ensure focus on safety, quality, schedule and delivery.
Work with the Value Stream Manager to develop strategies and prioritize, communicate, and manage operational priorities and initiatives.
Support the implementation of new systems, procedures and work instructions, and special projects supporting manufacturing and customer service objectives.
Ensure compliance with all company and OSHA regulated safety requirements /standards, and environmental and ethical requirements.
Provide support on 3rd Shift, exercising ability to work independently and define specific tasks and priorities to support operations and quality.
Oversee and manage bargaining unit employees.
Note about schedule: This position is on 3rd Shift, 10PM to 7:30AM.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Typically requires a Bachelors degree in an engineering or technical discipline with at least four (4) years of related experience, or the overall equivalent;
+ People management experience, preferably including bargaining unit employees;
+ Requires a solid understanding of Quality Assurance / Quality Control fundamentals and principles;
+ Experience operating within ISO 9001 standards;
+ Strong background in problem solving techniques and analysis (A3,DMAIC, etc);
+ Proficiency in standard and industry related software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database applications;
+ Highly effective written and verbal communication skills;
+ Able to support on 3rd Shift, 10PM to 7:30AM.
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ ASQ certification;
+ Experience working in a quality program in support of government contracts, preferably DoW;
+ Formal training in root cause analysis;
+ Experience implementing APQP in a low-rate, technically complex product environment;
+ People management experience preferably in a union environment.
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $107359 - $182510

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
