About the Internship
We are offering a challenging and impactful Project Assignment Internship within our Operational Engineering team. This internship is ideal for a student who needs to complete a practical or graduation project and is eager to work on real-life engineering challenges in a high-tech, regulated environment. The specific assignment will be defined together, based on your interests and academic requirements, and aligned with current business needs.
Potential Project Topics (to be finalized together):
Process improvement in manufacturing or assembly linesEquipment efficiency (OEE) and downtime analysisLean implementation or value stream mappingData collection and analysis for root cause investigationsSupport for new product introduction (NPI) from an operations perspectiveDigitalization or automation of manual processesErgonomics or safety improvements on the shop floorWhat You’ll Do
Lead or support a defined engineering or operations-related projectWork closely with operators, engineers, and production supervisorsGather, analyze, and present data to drive improvementsParticipate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activitiesPresent progress updates and final results to stakeholdersDocument findings and provide actionable recommendationsYour Profile
Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related fieldAnalytical thinker with a hands-on mindsetStrong interest in production environments, process optimization, and continuous improvementComfortable working with data (Excel, Power BI, Minitab, etc.); knowledge of lean tools is a plusStrong communication skills in English (Dutch or other languages are a plus)Proactive, independent, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environmentInternship must be part of an academic curriculum (graduation assignment or practical project)At Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 130,000 extraordinary minds has a unique story to tell.
