General Summary
Manages all aspects of the manufacturing business. Provides leadership and acts as customer point of contact for business challenges.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manages and provides leadership for direct reports and business employees.
2. Implements and/or assists in required training programs.
3. Manages all controllable cost factors in forge and die shop manufacturing areas.
4. Plans and organizes workload and staffing over all shifts, utilizing proper equipment selections and materials in order to meet or exceed customer requirements.
5. Provides a safe and injury free work environment for all employees.
6. Co-chairs MRB sessions to disposition defective material and provide corrective action.
7. Chairs weekly barrier meetings and ensures barriers are resolved in a timely manner.
8. Manages daily operations using the SPD Operating System guidelines.
9. Participates in all facets of the total quality system i.e., goal tracking, visual board audits and updates, budget development and review, people development, goal development, barrier identification and elimination, goal and objective achievement.
10. Manage and control cost and ship products on time.
11. Lead process improvement initiatives in areas of responsibility and ensure quality requirements are met.
12. Other duties and projects as assigned.
13. Effectively and efficiently utilize that part of the Division’s Strategic Architecture for which responsibility lie i.e. TQM, SPD Operating System, Core Values.
14. Responsibility of a signature level of authority defined by the Division standard.
15. Co-plans with his/her staff, and then directs and manages, the professional development of direct and indirect reports to ensure: (1) excellent current and future job performance; (2) adequate preparation for the employees’ future career growth opportunities; (3) a highly talented and motivated workforce that will achieve the company’s, division’s, and department’s immediate and strategic objectives.
16. Directs and manages all departmental activities and responsibilities either personally, or through his/her staff, to ensure the needs of all internal and external customers are met, and the goals and objectives of the company, division and department are supported and achieved.

Reports to: President
Directs Work of: Senior Supervisor and Supervisors of Forge, Die Shop Supervisor, CMM Technician
Indirect Work of approximately 180 direct and indirect hourly bargaining unit employees.

Work Experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
1. Work requires a bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or technical field.
2. Requires five to ten years manufacturing experience specifically in areas such as machining, heat treat, forging, etc.
3. Ability to resolve technical, financial and operational challenges.
4. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
5. Ability to use the computer and various software programs.
