Operations Manager
**Job Description:** **RESPONSIBILITIES:** The operations manager's responsibilities involve supervision, product handling, maintenance, leading continuous improvement activities, and performing other duties as assigned. The operations manager will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the organization and a favorable image of the company. Supervision involves establishing and communicating department goals and results to employees, staffing the department and delegating the workload, actively supporting employee growth, upholding company policies, and supervising the office operations and daily reporting. Establish and communicate department goals and results to employees 1. Establish department goals with assistance from the director of operations: a. Quality b. Service time c. Cost per unit 2. Conduct weekly department planning and updating meeting. Staff department and delegate workload to meet service requirements. 1. Establish and update job descriptions for all positions within the department. 2. Recommend selection for employees based on job requirements. 3. Staff and adjust workforce to fit seasonal needs with a minimum of unproductive labor cost. 4. Employ seasonal work-sharing arrangements to minimize layoffs and unemployment compensation costs. Actively support employee growth. 1. Schedule and supervise orientation for new department employees. 2. Update employees regularly on new product knowledge. 3. Identify, in writing, training needs for individual employees. 4. Discuss performance regularly with each department employee. 5. Complete and administer a yearly merit review with each department employee following management approval. Uphold company policies. 1. Uphold and enforce all company policies. 2. Ensure that department facilities and equipment meet all federal, state, and OSHA regulations. 3. Inform all employees of safe product handling. 4. Develop and maintain a regular maintenance schedule for all department facilities and equipment. **Qualifications** **REQUIREMENTS:** • BA/BS degree in Management, Business, Logistics/Supply Chain or Operations-related curriculum preferred • Proven ability to motivate staff and handle a variety of personnel and technical issues on an ongoing basis. • Minimum of 5 years of proven front-line management experience in operations for a distribution or manufacturing company. • Must be able to communicate effectively. • Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed. • Ability to handle and diffuse stressful situations. • Excellent overall work record. • Ability to handle confidential information professionally. • Ability to coach and mentor direct reports • Demonstrated capability to manage a high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective operations is a must. **Time Type:** Full time **Job Type:** Regular **Job Family Group:** Distrib & Matls Mgmt **Location Region/State:** Missouri **EEO Statement:** Scholastic is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
