OPERATIONS MANAGER
REPORTS TO GENERAL MANAGER
THE ROLE:
Responsible of all aspects of property operations including maximization of financial performance, guest satisfaction, and staff development within established quality standards. Responsible for the hiring, training and discipline of all hotel staff.
ACTIVITIES:
The duties and responsibilities for the Operations Manager include, but are not limited to the following:
•Oversees overall day-to-day hotel operations by supervising, coordinating, and actively participating in the daily operations of the hotel.
•Creates an operating environment that assures consistent guest satisfaction. Ensures proper handling of guest complaints.
•Ensure the quality of services, adherence to standards, and customer satisfaction.
•Oversee optimal human resource management: Supervises and motivates designated employees; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, training programs, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Establishes and maintains a pro-active human resource function to ensure employee motivation.
•Ensures the efficient and effective operation of the Housekeeping, Maintenance, F&B and Front Office departments.
•Manage financial and material resources: cost control, inventory tracking, supplier negotiations, etc.
•Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting inspections, ongoing evaluations and investigating complaints. Suggests and implements corrective actions.
•Participate in the development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies, follow up with short, medium, and long-term objectives.
•Maintains reservations systems such as Property Management System, Restaurant Systems, Yield Management System …
•Perform various administrative tasks for the management
•Monitoring of the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems and financial performance. Suggests and implements corrective actions.
•Understands the government regulations affecting hotel’s operations, ensuring hotel is operated in compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements of any federal, provincial or municipal authority.
•Ensures implementation of appropriate technology solutions to increase customer service and hotel revenues.
•Ensures good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures. Ensure compliance with internal policies, safety standards, and operating procedures.
•Provide support to the management team, particularly by acting as team leader, participating in meetings, evaluating the customer service provided by employees, providing feedback to supervisors, and conducting training and coaching for employees and managers under your supervision.
•Perform any other related tasks.
COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:
•Bilingual: fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.
•Minimum 3 years supervisory experience, within hospitality industry preferred
•Four-year college degree is preferred
•Ability to deal with all levels of management, staff and owners in a professional manner
•Experience in the supervision of personnel: recruitment, training and motivation
•Background in the development and execution of business, marketing and sales plans and operating budgets
•Proficient / familiarity with computerized systems
•Ability to work within deadlines
•Proven ability to manage multi-tasked assignments
•Familiarity with accounting principles
•Familiarity with hotel operations an asset
•Will be required to work a variety of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
