The Operations Leader is responsible for oversight and leadership of personnel, functions and processes related to manufacturing at the Spartanburg facility with an emphasis on operational excellence and collaboration with Plant Leadership.  Role has primary responsibility for the safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and productive operation of the unit or area, aligned with business and site requirements and goals.

 

 

What We’re Looking For:

Lead Operations to deliver excellent HSES performance.  Ensure compliance with HSES policy and procedures.  Work aggressively to prevent injuries to personnel, implement proactive systems that help prevent incidents through training, good housekeeping, 5S, procedures, mistake-proofing and by instilling a team-oriented safety focus.  Maintain the manufacturing processes needed for RC14001 certification.  Lead Operations to ensure high quality products and service to Lubrizol customers.  Investigate non-conformances, assess improvements and implement corrective/preventive actions to address the issue. Maintain the manufacturing processes needed for ISO9001 and RC14001 certifications. Accountable for meeting annual goals, objectives, and KPI improvements, including costs, asset reliability, and asset utilization. Develop and operate within the operating expense budgets for manufacturing. Determines appropriate staffing and assignment of operators. Ensures accurate and complete recording of asset utilization losses. Lead operations team to be a work process driven and empowered team. Ensures individuals set, monitor and achieve goals aligned with business and site strategies. Creates an environment that allows team and individual empowerment to grow and flourish. Models expected behaviors for an empowered organization.   Utilize the PCM process, training, coaching and career planning to develop each member of the Operations team to their full potential.  Work with HR to ensure consistent application of policy and procedures (discipline, payroll, etc.).  Identify needs, prioritize, develop, and implement activities to ensure that Operations is supporting and contributing to the goals and objectives of the Spartanburg facility. Support the development of a culture of excellence and ownership at the Spartanburg facility. Utilizes SPC tools to identify and target improvement and control opportunities.   Nurture a culture where all employees are committed to continually improving people and processes. Develop a high-performing team with standard work processes and systems through creating a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.  This will include implementing elements of Lubrizol’s Operational Excellence strategy such as lean principles, Leader Standard Work (LSW), Management Operating System (MOS) 5S and RCA process, etc.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

Bachelor’s in Engineering.  Chemical Engineering is preferred. 10 or more years in the Chemical Industry. 5 or more years if Chemical Plant Manufacturing. Experience with batch chemical processing is preferred. 5 or more year Supervisory experience. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Strong leadership skills, a positive attitude, and a proactive approach to problem solving. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, organize and follow through in a fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners to find appropriate resolutions and efficiencies.  Strong working knowledge of SPC tools and processes. Demonstrated capability in Servant Leadership and developing high performing teams and work systems. Experience using  Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Working knowledge with SAP is preferred
