Operations Geologist
Airswift is looking for an Operations Geologist to work in a contractor (6 months) position in Mexico City for an oil and gas company.
The selected candidate will work closely with the Drilling and Subsurface Department of the Kan Development Project to provide all necessary geological input data required for concept well engineering based on the wells DG2 requirements. The role will involve collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure efficient well concept engineering while optimizing well placement, geological integrity and hazards. In addition, the candidate will need to have a firm understanding of the regulatory and environmental requirements related to the drilling operations as well as a firm knowledge of the geology and encountered challenges in the Kan field.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Work alongside Subsurface and Drilling Department to supply essential geological data for concept well design engineering. Interpret and analyze geological and geophysical data to assist in well planning. Prepare Statement of Requirements for wells concept engineering Provide lithological predication, fault and hazard mapping at and around projected well trajectories Interpret Kan’s geophysical site survey to assist in defining WHP surface location, review of existing data, desktop studies, suitability of rig emplacement, etc. Contribute to well planning risk assessment from a subsurface view Elaborate on subsurface lessons learned from Kan-1 and Kan-2, especially on the risks involved with the main growth fault, pressure ramp, weak sands in the Pliocene and FIT and LOT understanding. Coordinate with third party geomechanics company to provide PPFG analysis for the Kan field. Coordinate with geologists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers, production engineers, geomechanics engineer and drilling engineers to integrate subsurface data. Prepare and present post-drill analysis of Kan-1 and Kan-2EXP and operational recommendations. Prepare high level data acquisition programs such as logging, coring, and mud logging to enhance drilling efficiency and safety. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards for geological operations. Utilize geological software and databases to manage and interpret subsurface data for well planning (Petrel, IP, etc.) Participate in risk assessment and mitigation strategies for drilling projects. Contribute to the wells BoD as well as Well Overview and Status Diagram


JOB QUALIFICATIONS Experience in geology, preferably with operated assets Strong knowledge of well planning, drilling operations, and formation evaluation techniques. Proficiency in geological software (e.g., Petrel, IP, or similar tools). Familiarity with data acquisition techniques such as wireline logging, LWD, and mud logging. Advanced English
